Live and Learn Czech

We teach people Czech and help them live in Czechia.

The Concept of Live and Learn Czech

Learn Czech

We lead lessons online, so you can join from wherever you might be. All you need is a computer and a good internet connection. The lessons are designed according to your needs and wishes – do you only need to know how to order a beer or buy a ticket for the train? Do you need Czech for some small talk in the company kitchen or maybe you need to understand your mother-in-law? Or would you like to prepare for the permanent residency or citizenship tests? Together we can do it all!

We teach both with and without textbooks, but no matter your preference all materials are prepared for you in an online environment that you have access to even between lessons. We also ensure that homework and self-study prepared for you is interesting and enjoyable, so that you can practise what you need. We have the thing just for you - Online Language Tutoring.

Do you prefer studying on your own? We have the thing just for you - Online language tutoring.

Live Czech

We will learn about the Czech Republic together in Czech, find new places and use the language there. Think going to Kutná Hora and learning to talk about wine or visiting Křivoklát and talking about the architecture. This could be combined with a visit to the forest information centre below the castle and learn language around animals and connected idioms. Think going on a tour prepared just for us around Horovice Manor or taking a pleasant walk from Prague to Únětice brewery and practising our pub Czech.

We're planning to "live Czech" on trips and excursions. We will learn about the Czech Republic in Czech together, find new places and speak and listen to Czech there. We will go to Kutná Hora and learn to talk about wine. We will visit Křivoklát and talk about architecture. We will visit the forest information centre under the castle and review animals and idioms about them. At Hořovice Manor we will go on a tour prepared especially for us. We will walk from Prague to the brewery in Únětice and practice our pub Czech.

Katka Bařtipánová

Ever since I was a child, I've always been excited to meet people from foreign countries. It was always a shame that I wasn't able to have a good conversation with them however, since I didn't speak English all that well. My English has improved since then, but I decided to help foreigners in the Czech Republic who want to speak our language. I've been teaching Czech since 2016 and in that time I've helped dozens of students to become fluent in the language, even helping some of them to pass certified exams. I worked for 6 years in a large language school where I not only taught Czech, but I also led methodology training for teachers and prepared materials.
I speak English and in recent years I have fallen in love with Italian, which I am gradually improving.

How people communicate has always fascinated me, and so I help people to better communicate with each other. I love teaching beginners - I'll happily show you how logical and beautiful a language Czech can be! There's no need to wait - you'll be talking in Czech from the very first lesson.
I've also been teaching Czech since 2016 and I've taught hundreds of lessons to dozens and dozens of satisfied students. I worked as a teacher trainer in a large language school for three years, taking care of a team of teachers as well as designing and leading training sessions. In 2019, Katka and I gave a talk together at a conference hosted by the Association of Language Schools on approaches to teaching.
I speak English and Spanish, but I have experience teaching students coming from a variety of language backgrounds.
